 Welcome

You and your family are invited to enter a world of knowledge, learning and fun at the West Deptford Free Public Library.  Come in and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, great collection, state of the art technology, unique services and array of programs. To keep abreast of the many activities at the WDFPL look for "Check It Out", the Library's e-newsletter which is emailed periodically to those who opt in and also posted at www.westdeptford.lib.nj.us .

The Library collections which number more than 80,000 items for children, young adults and adults include audio books on compact disc; books in paperback, hard cover and large print formats and electronic formats; resources for the physically challenged; music on cassette and compact disc; Playaways; puzzles and puppets; reference sources; software; tax forms; and videos/DVDs.

The Library is also a member of LOGIN, a group of libraries in Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem Counties who share their resources through a computerized bibliographic database.  Residents with West Deptford Library cards can go and borrow materials from the twenty-three other libraries that belong to LOGIN.

Computers are plentiful and loaded with software applications to meet the needs of library users of all ages.  Sign-up for computer classes which include but are not limited to an introduction to computers, word processing, desktop publishing, e-mail, spreadsheet development, and navigating the Internet.  From our web page you can search the library´s catalog, browse the collection, put items on hold and download electronic reading materials.  You can monitor and perform transactions to your library account.  All you need is access to an on-line computer or mobile device and a library card. Bring in your laptop or mobile device and connect and to the Internet through the library´s wireless network.

Are you researching a topic? Try out the library's many on-line databases.  They provide accurate and up to date information on a variety of topics for both child and adult.  With the databases you can locate fiction books based on a reader´s interests, news articles both current and as far back as 1940, tax forms and science experiments on-line, TV and radio transcripts, photography and maps, as well as magazines, reference books and newspapers.

Programs and exhibits are free and plentiful at the Library. Enjoy monthly art displays in the gallery and display cases. Bring your children to story times and after school programs. Family programming includes but is not limited to magic, puppet and animal shows. Teens participate in book discussions, movie nights, gaming and demonstrations on varied topics. Favorite programming for adults include scholarly lectures, dance classes and musical concerts.

In addition to an array of programs the WDFPL provides a variety of web services which include a Mobility Scooter, Public Meeting Rooms, Quiet Study Rooms, Notary Public (fee based), Self-Checkout, and Wireless Hotspot.

The South Jersey Environmental Information Center (SJEIC) is located within the library.  The center provides environmental information in books, videos/DVDs, specialized databases and periodicals. From the SJEIC webpage on the WDFPL website you can link to other Environmental sites.

The library would not be what it is today without the help of dedicated volunteers who are members of an organization call friends of the West Deptford Library.  The friends support the library through various activities.  Their mission is to encourage maximum usage of the library´s resources and services.  The friends meet the third Wednesday of the month at 2:00 pm in the library.
