The West Deptford Free Public library offers many diverse materials (both physical and digital) and programs for our young patrons (ages 0-10).
We have story times throughout the year. Registration is required for story times and is available to West Deptford Library cardholders and West Deptford residents.
We have two computers for children’s use in the back computer lab.
Children’s Fall Programs

Scavenger Hunt! Month Long Event
In addition to fun and excitement, scavenger hunts offer a variety of benefits to enhance the learning experience for children. Advantages of participating in the scavenger hunts for children at WDFPL: Engagement – physical activity and movement; Collaboration – teamwork, communication, and problem-solving; Social skills – listening, following directions, and peer interaction; Cognitive skills – memory retention, decision-making, spatial awareness; Curiosity and imagination – creative thinking; and Parent-child bonding – read and explore together. The scavenger hunts in the children’s area of WDFPL are a wonderful way for children to explore, get exposure to, and become familiar with their area of the library.
The scavenger hunt in the Children’s Department of the WDFPL is very popular. The blue Scavenger Hunt Table is by Ms. Katelyn’s desk. Everything needed to participate is there. There are 12 pictures hidden throughout the Children’s Department. Find all the pictures and enter to win a book from the Book Basket!
Toddler Story Time – Ages 2-3
Toddler Story Time features stories, songs, movement and crafts designed for children ages 2-3. Toddler Storytime takes place in the Story Time corner and an adult stays with the child. Story times are reserved for WDFPL cardholders and West Deptford residents. You may register for story times on either Mondays or Tuesdays, not both. Registration is required and will begin on August 31st. Seating is limited. Call 856-845-5593 or stop by the library to register.
Baby – Story Time
Baby Story Time features short stories, songs, rhymes, and playtime designed for babies. Baby Storytime takes place in the Story Time corner and an adult stays and participates with the child. Story times are reserved for WDFPL cardholders and West Deptford residents. Registration is required and will begin on August 31st. Seating is limited. After School Thursdays – K-4
After School Thursdays is designed for children in grades K-4th, and features stories, crafts, and an occasional game or two. The children meet in the Children’s Department for 45 minutes of fun! After School Thursdays are reserved for WDFPL cardholders and West Deptford residents. Registration is required and will begin on August 31st. Seating is limited.
